Helping To End Illiteracy

Robinson’s Carpet One Floor & Home is helping to fight illiteracy by assisting the John Corcoran Foundation in their mission.

The John Corcoran Foundation was established in 1997 by author and speaker, John Corcoran. After John learned to read at the age of 48, he began to devote his life to freeing others from the enslavement of illiteracy and teaching anyone and everyone how to read.

Robinson’s Carpet One Floor & Home supplied their truck to be uses in delivering computers to children and helped with deliveries. The foundation supplied over 600 computers in January of 2013 to students who needed help learning how to read. Students are taught foundational technological skills of computer usage, typing, familiarity with internet browsing and research, web-conferencing, and virtual learning through online tutors and guided practice sessions. Once a child completes the program they get to keep the computer to continue their learning.
